Within the first week, medication was not given correctly which I then brought it up with the “ resident “ doctor/owners/doctor.They addressed the issue and gave me their word that it would not happen again but it did. So each time, the Malay nurses forgot to give medication, or gave short of the required medication, and eye drops for my mother’s glaucoma, I would bring it up to the doctor whose in charged of the Penang Tanjung Tokong Centre.Instead of asking the Malay nurses first, she would send me rude and accusatory texts telling me off that I’m bothering the nurses, that I shouldn’t tell them to do a better job. I have saved all of the communication I have had with her and all of the conversations with the nurses so I’m not making stories up. For two and a half years my mother has been there, it has always been a problem with my mother’s medication until I insisted that they take photos of the medication to send to me in Australia to see that the medication was correct. That too, there were times that medication was short or forgot to give. Each time I addressed it with her, she would tell me off without even checking with the helpers first.Being a doctor, one must be able communicate or treat families with respect and with a mind to understand.
3 GOLDEN RULES.
1) NO ABUSE OF ANY FORM-My mother was humiliated, & traumatized. There was no dignity/ compassion shown to her.
2) NO MEDICATION ERROR- Medication error has always been the issue here.
3) HONESTY/TRANSPARENCY - Any question/discussion is met by verbal abuse & stonewalling or they tell you to pack your loved ones and go which they did.
Meals - Staff blended my mother’s food to feed her. On the day I removed my mother, I took her out to have a meal. She was able to feed herself and ate very cleanly and neatly.
I don’t know why they didn’t brush her hair for her as it was covering her face/eyes,-she looked like a mad woman. have photos to show. Suffering from dementia, she needs help and that’s why she’s there for- help and care. I also heard that my mother had an accident with her bowels.I do not understand why they had to video her in her distress. Is it to shame her further? There’s no dignity for her at all. When she had covid, she was sent to the general hospital and I requested to the staff that her jewellery be taken off and be in the safe keeping of the Centre. They didn’t do that and so the bracelet was stolen while she was in G.H. When it was time to bring her back to Centre, she came back in hospital clothes, her medication was left behind. I requested to see if the doctor was able to arrange her medication and clothing to be returned since she’s also working in the general hospital , she felt as if I had asked her to clean poop. There was no reason for her to respond with indignation and anger.I tried to explain to her but she didn’t want to hear anything about it. Is that being professional?
Blouses, blanket, shoes even her bras went missing. No apology.Every time when I returned to visit my mother, I would buy presents for the nurses and even on the day when I came to move my mother, I bought for every Malay/Filipino helper.
The management makes you feel as if they are doing you a favor when it is we who are paying for their care for our loved ones. It’s b cos of us they have a business. At the end of the day, it’s just business. Money.
As for the doctor, she need to learn some manners, , learn to listen to understand.

The caretakers are professional, well-trained, and everything is perfectly done. Doctors absolutely know what they're doing, and I highly recommend their service for anybody requiring 24hour care for the elderly or rehabilitation purposes.
